After a jolly Christmas lunch at Medcalf in Exmouth market, wrapped in layers of warmth, extra socks and gloves all safely on, skates neatly laced and with more than a passing resemblance to penguins doing that walk, Design Clarity found themselves on the edge of the ice at Somerset House last week ready for a truly London Christmas experience.
Concentrating very hard on staying upright, it was only after a couple of turns around the rink that we remembered to look up and appreciate what an amazing space Somerset House had become for Christmas.
Both Fiona and Alex, seemed to have no fear where the ice was concerned (growing up in chilly foreign climes must do that to you) – happy to hold everyone else up, and spinning them round corners, Fiona kept trying to tempt everyone ‘Lets go into the middle of the ice.’ I’m not sure what would have happened in the middle of the ice, but no one was tempted, I suspect some kind of Torvill and Dean routine might have gone terrible wrong.
Only one incident, a collision between Sam and the ice – but the handsome medic said all was fine, so back onto the ice. The bruising that appeared after seemed to suggest otherwise, but it in the interim a round of Baby Guinness at ‘the cut bar’ post skating seemed to numb the pain.
A Merry Christmas to you all!
