Designing for a bespoke diamond jeweller is all about the sparkle. This store, on the luxury level at Westfield Sydney, is for lovers of diamonds and extravagant design.
Varoujan Jewellers has been designed with the customer experience at the heart of the concept. The black reflective space envelopes you on entry and the smoked mirriored panels play tricks with your perception of volume, making the walls of the tiny 17sqm space appear to recede to infinity, leaving the jewels in the floating display cases as the true focal point. The aim in this design was to effectively maximise the display impact and create a unique method of showcasing the original designer diamond pieces.
Specialist lighting was paramount to achieve a perfect colour rendition for the diamonds on display, and prototypes were developed to trial the LED fixtures prior to installation. The drama of the black backdrop to the space allows an almost theatrical emphasis for each jewellery piece on display. Design Clarity was also asked to create a highly dramatic shopfront display to attract customers. In response, the design team drew inspiration from traditional wall panelling by creating a series of suspended white gloss powder-coated metal frames.
Black polished marble, high gloss black two-pack polyurethane, a handmade bespoke inset floor rug and imported silk curtaining all work to envelope the customer into this luxurious world of diamond shopping. The layering of smoked mirrors, and suspended white metal framing gives the illusion that the jewellery is floating with the minimal brass tubular pendants over each display providing a narrow focused beam of light to let the diamonds sparkle.
