In/Out is a sculptural paper-folding artwork with projection-mapped animation.
‘In like a lion, out like a lamb’
The work consists of initial designs in Adobe Illustrator, 3D graphics in Google SketchUp, animation in Adobe After Effects and the sculptural piece constructed of 300gsm card (final piece measures approx 0.6m x 0.7m). In/Out was exhibited at Launch 2013 – an exhibition bringing together a group of recent graduates from Melbourne universities, showcasing dynamic, diverse and insightful new work. The show was held at Brunswick Art Space in March 2013 and was curated by Ive Sorocuk and Josephine Waite.
In/Out is a response to the idiom ‘In like a lion, out like a lamb’ – a phrase often used to describe the weather in the month of March, that originates from the constellations of Leo and Aries that are visible in the sky during the start and end of March.
