This space introduces a softer, community-driven side of the retail experience. With greenery, casual seating, and a café vibe, it reflects Optus’ ambition to integrate into customers’ everyday lives.
The Lifestyle & Community Integration zone reads as a living room within the retail environment: rattan screens, woven pendant lights and planters cultivate a relaxed, domestic materiality that contrasts with the store’s more theatrical moments. A canopy of vertical greenery and a loose arrangement of café tables and bench seating create an approachable setting for events, device coaching sessions, and weekend programming with local partners.
Furnishings lean into natural materials — cane-backed chairs with warm terracotta cushions, low travertine coffee tables and a jute rug — offering tactile diversity and Instagrammable visuals. A compact service bar supports light hospitality: a small espresso point and chilled display for bottled goods, both housed within timber casework with concealed waste and cleaning access. The area’s power and AV infrastructure are integrated beneath bench tops to keep the aesthetic uncluttered while allowing devices to be charged and content to be shared during workshops. The zone is intentionally multi-purpose and bookable: staff can host meetups, small product clinics or local creator takeovers; modular screens and moveable partitions allow the space to be redefined quickly.
Operational protocols focus on hygiene (easy-wipe surfaces, dedicated hand-wash points) and turnover management for hospitality. From a brand perspective, this enclave softens the technology narrative, aligning Optus with lifestyle and everyday utility, and creates opportunities for community-minded programming that drives repeat visitation and local relevance.
