This sports bar reimagines the classic pub experience with a more refined visual language. Warm timber, textured tiles and a deep green ceiling give the space richness without heaviness. The long bar anchors the room, lined with traditional bentwood stools and illuminated by softly curved overhead gantries. Durable finishes enhance the practicality needed for high-traffic hospitality, while the furnishings and lighting temper the scale into a welcoming, convivial setting. It’s a contemporary take on the Tasmanian pub — familiar, but more polished.

The sports bar at the Kingston Hotel blends durability, comfort and understated style to elevate what guests expect from a suburban venue. The interior is structured around the commanding length of the bar: a solid surface counter paired with vertically stacked ceramic tiles in tonal greys. This textured façade gives the bar a tactile quality, subtly shifting in tone as light moves across its surface.

Above, custom metal-framed gantries with softly arched forms house ribbed glass panels. These break up the volume and introduce a rhythm that feels both modern and reminiscent of traditional pub fittings. The deep olive ceiling grounds the space and creates a cohesive backdrop, enriching the palette while drawing focus to the activity below.

The patterned floor tiles define circulation and anchor the line of bentwood stools — a practical and enduring choice that adds a classic hospitality note. Surrounding tables feature simple stone-look tops on slim black bases, allowing the crafted materials elsewhere in the room to take precedence.

Behind the bar, a mix of matte and gloss tiles in warm neutrals provides a robust, easy-clean surface that stands up to daily service. Integrated lighting is strategically placed to avoid glare from multiple screens while maintaining ambience during daylight and evening trade.

This design approach tempers the energy of a sports bar with a calmer material palette, ensuring the space feels welcoming across different times of day — from a casual lunch to a packed match night — without losing clarity, warmth or identity.
